Argentina is taking an important step in the digitalization of the financial market: the National Securities Commission (CNV) has presented a draft regulation allowing the tokenization of assets. The new regime will allow companies to issue digital tokens tied to stocks, bonds and other securities without additional permits. To test the system, CNV will launch a regulatory sandbox that will operate for a year, collecting feedback and analyzing possible risks.
Only licensed virtual asset providers will be able to offer tokenized securities on the market. CNV CEO Roberto Silva emphasized that Argentina is striving to strengthen its position in the blockchain industry and keep up with global trends. The move follows a recent agreement between Argentina and El Salvador to cooperate on crypto regulation.
Experts expect the new regime to accelerate the adoption of digital assets in the traditional financial sector, but warn of the need for thorough sandbox testing to avoid abuses and technical glitches.
