Kraken, a well-known cryptocurrency platform, is expanding its offerings by introducing a new service that allows users to trade tokenized American stocks 24/7. This innovative tool is implemented in the form of perpetual futures contracts backed by real underlying assets.

According to the company's official statement, these contracts are the first regulated products of their kind on the market. They are based on the xStocks tokens that Kraken acquired at the end of last year. This technology allows you to create accurate digital copies of traditional exchange-traded assets, while fully preserving their characteristics.

Trading is available to customers from more than 110 countries, however, due to current regulatory regulations, US residents will not be able to use this service. The initial list includes tokenized versions of such popular assets as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 indices, shares of Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, as well as the SPDR Gold Shares exchange-traded fund.

The key aspect is the token provisioning mechanism: each xStocks token is directly backed by a corresponding asset in a one-to-one ratio. This ensures that the cost of the digital copy remains close to the market price of the original, even when traditional American exchanges are closed.

Mark Greenberg, head of customer relations at Kraken, emphasized that the appearance of these contracts reflects the growing trend towards the convergence of traditional finance and the cryptoeconomy. He noted that increased volatility in various markets makes round-the-clock access to trading crucial for risk management. Greenberg also mentioned that regulated tokenized assets in the perpetual futures format provide market participants with new opportunities, allowing them to trade stocks, indices, and commodities with the same speed and flexibility as cryptocurrencies.

The introduction of perpetual tokenized stock futures on the Kraken platform is a significant step towards deeper integration of the two financial worlds. Now traders have received a tool that combines the characteristics familiar to cryptotrading with assets that have a long history on classic exchanges.
