Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has instructed to develop cryptocurrency mining in the country using excess electricity. He noted that global demand for cryptocurrencies is growing, especially after the US announced the creation of a cryptocurrency reserve. Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus should actively participate in this process, attracting both foreign investors and developing its own capacities.
Lukashenko addressed the new Minister of Energy Alexei Kushnarenko with the instruction to study the issue and submit proposals for the development of mining. The President also noted that the country is already attracting the interest of investors, including Russian and Chinese, thanks to stimulating electricity tariffs that became possible after the commissioning of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.
This step emphasizes Belarus's desire to keep up with global trends and use its resources to develop new technologies. The development of mining can become an important element of the country's economic strategy, especially in the context of growing interest in cryptocurrencies at the global level.
