Binance clients have faced a new wave of SMS scams: attackers send out fake notifications that imitate official exchange messages. The texts often contain a warning “A new 2FA link has been detected for your account,” prompting victims to call a fake “support service.” Some users receive these messages in the same chats where real notifications from Binance are received, indicating a possible use of data leaks.
Binance’s head of security Jimmy Su confirmed that the exchange is strengthening its protection: now the anti-phishing code, previously available only for email, is also available for SMS. However, scammers are targeting even those who are not registered on the platform, indicating large-scale leaks of phone numbers.
Experts advise never to click on links provided in SMS, always check transactions through the official app and use two-factor authentication. Binance encourages users to report suspicious messages to support.
